My crack-like addiction to email
written by Stuart on September 23rd, 2006
I don't mean to keep banging on about my swanky new Nokia E61, but man, the thing is amazing.
However, a small problem has arisen from my having constant, useable access to the net in my pocket. Yes, I have a problem, and I'm man enough to admit it. My name is Stuart Frisby, and I am addicted to checking my email. I started off just checking it every couple of hours, but recently I've been letting it affect my behaviour. Sneaking off to the loo in the pub to see if anything new has arrived in my inbox. The problem is that it's just so easy, I can even do it sitting around with friends, and no-one has a clue that I'm getting another hit as they continue to chatter away…
I've tried cutting down to just checking hourly - but it's become almost reflexive, I find myself in the middle of logging on without having realised what I'm doing. Damn you Nokia, damn you and your stunningly simple UI, a UI which is a pleasure to use, and which has gifted me with an intimate knowledge of all the wireless access points within a 2 mile radius of my home. May you burn in hell for such crimes against social etiquette.

is this teh one with VOIP as well? Cos Im very interested in it… is it good?
That’s the one, though I’m waiting for a skype client for series 60 devices before I really look into it. But yes, it’s all ready for VOIP and there are a couple of services you can already use with it.
I recommend you to try Seven Always-on-Mail, Blackberry or Mail for Exchange if you can.
Then you get push-mail and won’t have to check all the time.
I really enjoy reading your blogs. I love your wit.

Got me an N73. The web browser is pap, and access to email available only intermittently and slowly unless you have a pop3 yahoomail addy.
.. I shall consider myself lucky then.
